| Abstract | This is a collection of essays on Tibetan Buddhism by the foremost Western expert on the subject. Govinda spent 50 years in Tibet studying Buddhist teachings and practices. Here，he shares his views of the Buddha's basic teachings through discussions of the original meanings behind many of the Pali，Sanskrit，and Tibetan words. He divides the book into three main sections：the Path of Truth, Awakening Vision，and Trusting Experience. The late German author's previous study，Foundations of Tibetan Buddhism (State Mutual Bks.，1987)，offers more complete coverage of this topic. An index and glossary of English, Pali，and Sanskrit terms are included. Recommended only for large collections with interest in the subject. |
