Abstract 禪是當代東西方思想文化領域關注的熱點之一，人們從不同的立場出發通過參究與研究兩種不同的方式把握禪，從而形成現代禪學中的諸多歧議和爭論。參就與研究分别從内在方面和外在方面把握禪，它們所解決的問題以及解決問題的方式均有不同。禪既是主體實踐的方式又是客觀認知的對象，禪本身的複雜性決定了參究與研究都有各自的有效範圍。參究與研究不能互相替代而又可以互補，它們都是把握禪的必要手段。只有把二者結合起来，才能更為全面地理解禪；只有清楚地了解這兩種把握禪的方式，才能克服禪學中的誤解和對話障礙。
