| Abstract | Although Kuan-yin is the pan-Buddhist bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, the artistic depictions of Kuan-yin in China have drawn inspirations not only from canonical sources, but also indigenous sources. This paper concentrates on several important Chinese forms of Kuan-yin:White-robe,Fish-basket,Kuan-yin of the South Sea and discusses the characteristics and sources for their creation. |
