Abstract 在佛教的發展史上，部派和大乘的出現是很重要的兩件事，但也是佛教史研究中至今未能得到最後解決的兩個困難的問題。長期以來，從事研究的學者們大多都認為，部派佛教屬於小乘佛教的範圍，部派就是小乘。這一觀點曾被廣泛接受。可是，事實是否就是這樣呢?本文的目的即想就此提出疑問，並略略加以討論。在目前的研究階段上，不過只是解決問題的一種嘗試或探索。
