Abstract | 一龍樹是印度大乘佛教中觀理論的奠基人,約活動于公元二、三世紀。印度佛教產生于公元前六、五世紀。到公元前二、一世紀,大乘佛教開始萌芽。大乘佛教的產生與初期佛教的產生有一個顯著的不同,就是初期佛教是由釋迦牟尼創造的,理論比較體系化;而大乘的出現則是一種群眾運動,其理論雖說從總體來看有其統一的特征,但內部畢竟比較雜亂,甚而相互矛盾。從公元前二、一世紀到公元二、三世紀的幾百年間,大乘的學說不斷發展,新的典籍不斷出現,這時,內部的矛盾現象就更惹人注目,其典型代表就是宣揚“惡趣空”的方廣派的出現。這種情況不利于大乘與當時勢力依然雄厚的小乘各派的斗爭,不利于大乘自身的發展。形勢需要大乘對自己的學說進行全面的綜理,使之進一步理論化、體系化。
This article gives an account of Ngrjuna’s life and his writings and analyses his thought. It puts forth the view that the Indian philosopher’s thought is mainly reflected in his Mdhya- mikasastra which, according to the writer of this article, contains three major ideas, namely, pratitysasmutpda prakrti-snyat, madhyampratipad dve satye and tattvasya laksanam nir- vana. It also discusses these ideas one by one and expresses some viewpoints of its own.
