Abstract文章認為，從思想理論上看，宋代禪學並沒很大的發展，但禪宗發展的規模及其社會影響卻在宋代達到了相當的程度，禪學也形成了許多新的時代特點。文章從禪學與理學，禪淨教融合的趨勢，看話禪，默照禪，士大夫參禪，禪學的文字化與文字禪等六個方面探討論述了宋代禪學的新特點。並認為，瞭解宋代禪學的種種特點，對把握入宋以後整個中國傳統思想文化的發展趨勢及其特點都是十分重要的。
