The Buddhist Taixu interpreted the essential conception of Buddhism and established his supposition as to the communisization of religious organizations. Based on this understanding, he deeply criticized the Chinesized Buddhism, holding that Chinesized BUddhism went so far as to compromise with the Confucian administration and worldly convetions that it lacked concern with life and undermined the systematicality of Buddhist organization. Taixu's Buddhist theory laid an important basis for the modernization of Chinesized Buddhism.
