Abstract"Life and Death" are the most important things of human beings. Buddhism also emphasizes this topic. Its "Earthly" Pure Land thought aims to expand one's inner life resources n order to transcend the self and death, using the wholesome attitude of complete enlightenment and liberation to face the inescapable phenomenon of death.

Buddhism has its unique interpretation on the life phenomena of individuals and then advances to the Nirvana state of liberating from birth and death. It means that man can put and end to the cycle of birth and death. Buddhism has very high achievement in the religious state. In the meantime,it has concrete techniques in practice. For example, precepts are taken to deal with the desire for living but also to transcend death.

The methods of taking care of the sick and dead people are mentioned in the sutras such as the Maha-parinirvana Sutra, the Sutra of Traveling, the Sutra of Buddha's Preaching Impermanence, etc. These methods show the Buddhist positive attitude in caring about human life, using the shouldering and transformation of common karma to settle down the practical existence of individuals.

In facing modern society, the practice of "earthly" pure land should deal with the existing difficult situation more positively, from hospice to ultimate commitment, using Buddha Dharma to actualize the social ethics of human world, and to settle down the existence of life.
