Abstract | The Abhidhamma theory of perception is the subject of a study made by E R Sarathchandra in his Buddhist Psychology of Perception. In this article we shall refer to it where necessary while making our own observations. Besides, we propose to refer to the theory of perception, developed by the Vaibhasikas and the Sautrantikas, wherever it helps to provide a better understanding of the Theravada version of the theory.
