| Abstract | 東晉南北朝時，南朝的戒律是晚於北方，但卻超過了北朝。這主要表現在﹕律本的譯出和研習流傳，習律者“雲集波遝”，戒與禪的普遍結合，持戒與斷酒肉素食連在一起，中國寺院經濟的發展，比丘尼戒的傳入和確立等等。造成這種現象的原因是增眾大量的增多，統治者的推動，社會主要意識形成的轉化，玄學與儒學間的消長和皇權在南朝的逐步強化以及僧官體制的日益完善等。正是由於上述種種因素的交叉作用，使東晉南朝的佛教戒律形成了自己的特色。
