| Abstract | 蓮花是佛國清涼凈土和佛教諸神心性本凈的象徵,作為救度六道眾生的菩薩多持蓮花以為標識。西藏於6、7世紀出現一種或立或坐姿的持蓮花菩薩造像,現在西藏寺院都可以見到。其流行廣,延續時間長。佛教圖像志中,對持蓮花菩薩的造像,尤其是立姿像,一般多稱之為“蓮花手”,即謂一種觀音的身形,但本文經過考證,認為從圖像學的角度指稱觀音的某一身形為“蓮花手”是不準確的,“蓮花手”本身並不具備圖像意義。
