| Abstract | 「一石獨亭亭，中藏初祖形。千年神氣在，何用著丹青。」這首《面壁石》詩，出自清代顧嗣立之手。詩文中提到的初祖，就是在我國始傳禪宗的禪宗初祖---達摩，他本名菩提多羅，南天竺香至王第三子，種姓剎帝利，自幼拜釋迦牟尼的大弟子摩訶迦葉之後的第二十七代佛祖般若多羅為師，得大乘佛法真傳。其師因見其對各種法道已經博通，便讓他改號為菩提達摩。(「達摩」為「博通」之意)。在其師寂滅六十七年以后，菩提達摩遵師囑到震旦(即中國)傳授佛法。
