Abstract身為一個在漢傳佛教出家的外國僧人,經常有人問我:「出家後,最難調適的是什麼?」以我的經驗來說,修行主要是「心」的調整,即使有比較難調適之處,不要把它當作「難調」之事,一切用「平常心」來對待。

調和身心,是一輩子的修行。凡夫的煩惱習氣甚多,有的很明顯,已經讓自己受苦了;有的尚隱藏於內心深處,像正在睡覺的「煩惱毒蛇」,等著相應的因緣來觸碰牠,才會醒來。

有時,遇到某種情況,所產生的煩惱力量很大,一時很難調;有時,碰到同一種情形,雖然煩惱生起,但一下子就調回來。一切都是因緣所生法,我只曉得,必須一直用功下去,以「平等心」看待一切,按照當下的因緣來處理問題,適當地用方法對治,是最切實的心態。
