AbstractThe present anticle is on the group of Stone images which belong to the Tokyo National Museum in the gallery of Eastern Antiquities (Room I). It consist of the historical review of the research works which belong to T'ang Dynasty and the precise analyotic "T'ang Style". The group of Stone Statues were originally made by the under of Tse-Tien Wu-hou(則天武后)for Kuang-Chai Temple(光宅寺)at Changan metropolis in Tang Dynasty. They were instalted in the niches outside the seven storied pagoda called Ch'i-pao Lou-Tai(七寶樓壹)in the precinct. When the Temple of Kuang-chai was destroyed, they were Transferred to Pao-ching(寶慶)temple (known by the name of Hua-Ta Temple(花塔寺)as well, and reinstaled in the niches of tile walls of both, outside hexagonal seven-storied pagoda, and the main hall in the early Ching Dynasty when the temple was renovated. The difference in personal-styles among the statues was hitherts discussed by the schotars of The Japanese, especially Dr. Toshio Fukuyama from the point of view of the difference of periods, for they were made since the Inscriptions present the date year marks of Chang-an(長安)and Kai-yuan(開元)etc. However, the auther thinks they were made almost at the same time during the seven yeaes from the second year of Chang-shou(長壽)to the third year of Chang-an(長安)when the construction of Seven-storied Pagoda Ch'i-pao Lou-t'ai was executed by the Wu-hou. These Statues have the differences of the personal Styles from the personalites and techniques, but generally represented by the Period-Style, early Tang Dynastic Style.
