Abstract Dunhuang Ms. Da-ci-ru-lai-gao-shu大慈如來告疏 was disovered in the Middle Temple in front of the Mogao Caves in 1 947 , which is can be dated to 453 AD. According to lan- guage , its author should be a Chinese monk lived in the northern China. lts contents are simi- lar to those of the Buddhist texts such as the " Fo-shuo-fa-mie-jin-jing ( Sutra Spoken by Buddha on the destruction of the law translated under the earlier Song Dynasty A. D 42 0- 479 and Shou-bi-qiu-jing ( Gulaka and Bhiksu Sutra ) written by Chinese monks. The manuscript recorded Maitreya worshiping in the Northern Wei Dynasty. Though many Bud- dhist texts were translated from Sanskrit to Chinese before the 6th century , only few texts were preserved , in view of the above-mentioned facts , the manuscript merits attention for the study of Buddhism in ancient China |
