In Grotto Ai are preserved more than ten pieces of Chinese inscription, which contain valuable information about the culture, religion and social life of Kucha city in Tang Dyanasty. By making a detailed analysis of the types, contents, distributions, characteristics as well as the social backgrounds of the inscription, the author tries to find traces of life of Han during the ruling of Tang Dynasty and of the spreading of Mahayana in the south of Xinjiang.
