| Abstract | 印度佛教八世紀時逐漸走向衰落，且大量的吸取了印度教的儀軌咒術，以密教的形式傳播，並演化出金剛乘、時輪乘等流派。共流行範圍退縮至印度東北隅，約為今孟加拉國和印度比哈爾邦一帶。12世紀後，伊斯蘭教勢力入侵，佛教在印度幾乎滅絕，只有尼泊爾尚存。中世紀固守佛教最後陣地的只的帕拉王朝(一譯波羅王朝)和其后的舍那王朝，通稱為帕拉·舍那王朝(約公元750年-1200年)。
