| Abstract | 兩千多年來,南亞、東南亞社會中的南傳佛教頑強生存著,鑄造了這裡的民族和國家,也對包括北傳佛教和藏傳佛教在內的佛教發展作出了不可或缺的貢獻。進入近代社會以來,南傳佛教國家又與西方世界發生了決定性的因緣際遇,從而使其自身發展也融入到全球性的現代化過程。本文擬從三個方面來討論:南傳佛教在佛教史上的重要理論與實踐價值;南傳佛教的社會政治功能;南傳佛教對現代化潮流的適應。
Theravada Buddhism has tenaciously survived in South and Southeast Asia society for more than two thousand years, casted the national states and people’s life here, and made indispensable contributions to the whole Buddhism including Northern Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism. The everlasting powerful source of Buddhism is within itself, and the adaptability from its interaction with the social environment. Buddhism depends on social economic and political development, but also provides a spiritual guide to society. For this reason, Buddha’s preach has stayed in the world for such a long time, advanced with the times, and eternally renewed in the long run. Since entering the modern society, Theravada Buddhist countries have decisively karmic encounter with the western world, and make its own development integrated in global modernization process. This article discusses issues from three aspects as the important theoretical and the practical value of Theravada Buddhism, the social and political functions of Theravada Buddhism and the adaptation of Theravada Buddhism to the modern trend. |
