Abstract | 段文杰先生有關佛教石窟壁畫研究,結合傳世典籍圖文互證的研究觀念與方法,對我在敦煌文獻的研究多所啟發。敦煌文獻與文物的發現,開闊了研究視野,而出土文獻、文物與圖像,結合傳世文獻典籍的綜合考察,開創了近代學術研究的新局面。敦煌研究中圖文互證研究法的開展便是重要的例子,也顯示了敦煌佛教敘事圖文整合研究的意義。段文杰先生可說是結合敦煌文獻與敦煌石窟藝術力圖反映文物、文獻、圖像等多重證據研究風潮的先行者。
Professor Duan Wenjie’s scholarship on Buddhist caves and wall paintings combines transmitted texts and visual materials,a method and perspective of research that has been a crucial inspiration on my studies at Dunhuang.Each discovery of Dunhuang artifacts broadens our research horizon,the uncovered relics,visual images,texts,and transmitted texts opening new frontiers for modern scholarship with every examination.The mutual attesting method of texts and images in Dunhuang Studies is an important example demonstrating the implications of comprehensive research on both narrative texts and images.Duan Wenjie was a forerunner of modern archaeological research who used both texts and artistic materials from the caves of Dunhuang as integrative evidence for his studies. |
