AbstractIn the Buddhist tradition, animals are differentiated from plants and minerals, which are considered to be devoid of mind. Being endowed with mind, only animals are involved with eternal transmigration. In the Japanese tradition, however, mind is immanent in all the physical solids, and therefore no sharp line of demarcation is drawn between the human world and nature.
