KeywordBoyi and Shuqi; the period between the Ming and Qing dynasties; “Zen Escapism”
AbstractIt is a usual style of expression to use anecdotes of the past to allude to the present as well as to give contrast to the present. This paper takes the spiritual example of “Zen Escapism” Groups in Ming and Qing Dynasties as the main object of study, and the specific characters selected is Boyi and Shuqi. The reason is that Boyi and Shuqi are the originators of adherents, and are the origins of seclusion. From the study of Cai Weizi, Chen Zuocai, Dong Shuo and Xu Fang, we can see that the spirit of YiQi, as the spiritual example of “Zen Escapism” Group, can not only provide justification for the act of “Zen Escapism”, but also can set up a kind of high personality paradigm. Although the spirit of YiQi has been deformed in the exposition of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the immortal significance of YiQi spirit is confirmed from the opposite side, which is also the value source of the inexhaustible independent spirit of the Chinese literati throughout the dynasties.
