| Abstract | 地論學派의 전개과정에서 지론남도파의 흐름이 주류를 이루었다는 것은 주지의 사실이다.현재, 지론학파의 저술로 알려진 것 중에 혜원 저술이 가장 많고, 혜광, 법상,영유 등의 저술이 단간 및 일문으로 남아 있으며, 돈황 문헌 가운데 地論宗 南道波 문헌이 다수 발견되어 보고되었다. 그 가운데 현재 일문으로만 존재하는 懍의 『法鏡論』은 지론학파의 사상체계를 전해 주는 문헌으로 다루어졌다.특히, 『법경론』은 신라 表員의 『華嚴經文義要決問答』, 見登의『華嚴一乘成佛妙義』에만 직접 인용됨으로써 한국불교에서 지론학파의 영향과 관련해서 주목을 받은 동시에 지론 남도파의 연집설의 마지막 전개를 보여주는 구체적 사례로써 중시되어 왔다.
름의 계보에 관해서는 지론종 남도파 인물이라는 점에 일치한다. 필자는 혜원 이후에 혜원과 다른 독특한 사상을 소유한 지론학자라고 추정한다. 본고에서는 필자의 추정을 확인하는 방법으로 지론학파의 소의 경론인 『십지경론』에 대한 름의 이해를 볼 것이다.
표원의 『화엄경문의요결문답』은 각 장이 명칭의 이해[釋名], 개념의 핵심[出體], 그리고 문답을 통한 이해[問答分別]의 단으로 구성되어 있다. 름 법사의 십지의는 이세 단에 다 인용이 있다. 우선, 논의의 전개상 름 사가 생각하는 십지 개념의 핵심에 대해서 검토한다.
름의 논리구조는 길장과 유사하여 름이 삼론계통의 논리에 익숙한 학자임을 추정할 수 있다. 특히 길장 저술과 『대승사론현의기』와의 관련성이 부각되었다. 또한 법상의『십지론의소』의 영향도 추측된다. 또한 름 법사가 사용하는 ‘卽’의 수사법은 법상에게 가장 많이 보이며, 그 외에 영유와의 관련도 무시할 수 없다. 그런데 혜원에게는 이러한 즉의 수사법이 전혀 나타나지 않는다. 름과 혜원이 사상적으로 다른 계통일 수 있기 때문에 나타나는 현상으로 볼 수 있다. 또한 천태와의 관련도 보이는데, 이러한 정황으로 름의『법경론』이 남조 문화의 불교사상적 전통을 배경으로 해서 저술되었다고 보아야 할 것이다.
름의 사상에 대해서는 기존에는 천태와의 관련성이 주로 논구되었는데, 그뿐만 아니라 길장, 『대승사론현의기』등 삼론학의 논리구조와도 대단히 유사하거나 동일한 표현을 사용한다. 따라서 지론학 외에 천태와 삼론학이 름의 사상적 토대로 큰 역할을 하고 있음을 알수 있다.
Through the process of the development of the Dilun school, it is well known that the strand of its southern school became its main stream. Fajinglun 『法鏡論』 by Lin(懍), belonging to this strand, is directly cited only in the Hwaeomgyeongmunuiyogyeolmundab 『華嚴經文義要決問答』 by Pyoweon (表員) and the Hwaeomilseungseongbulmyoui 『華嚴一乘成佛妙義』 by Gyeondeung (見登), which has attracted public attention
in relation with the Dilun school’s influence in Korean Buddhism, in addition to its being emphasized as a concrete illustration showing the last development in the theory of yuanji (緣集) by its southern school.
As for Lin’s lineage, there is agreement in that he belongs to the southern strand of Dilun school. I suppose that he is a unique scholar of Dilun after Huiyuan (慧遠).
Lin’s logical system is similar to Jizang (吉藏), which enables us to estimate that he might have been accustomed to the logic of Sanlun (三論). Especially, the possibility of the relation between the writings of Jizang and the Daeseungsaronhyeonuigi 「大乘四論玄義記」 has become prominent. This work seems also to have been influenced from the Shidilunyishu 「十地論義疏」 by Fashang (法上). Concretely, Lin’s rhetoric of the letter ‘ji ’(卽) is seen most frequently in Fashang. In addition, his relation with Lingyu (靈裕) should not be disregarded. However, we cannot find such a rhetoric in Huiyuan’s works, which can be a proof that Lin and Huiyuan belongs to different lines. We can find his relation with Tiantai, too, which suggests that the Fajinglun might have been written within the tradition of Buddhist thought in Southern China.
