| Abstract | 本稿では、文献学的方法論で浄土経典の〈無量寿経〉の最古訳である『大阿弥陀経』
と『観無量寿経』を中心として、浄土経典における「自利」と「利他」の思想形成とそ
の展開を巡って検討を試みた。本稿は次の 5 章からなる。
第 1 章では、〈無量寿経〉における「自利」と「利他」という表現について考察した。
魏訳『無量寿経』の「自利」と「利他」の用例を示しながら、それに対応する『大阿弥
陀経』の文章には、「自利」と「利他」という表現を含む用例が存在しないものの、法
蔵の六波羅蜜の修行体系を通じて法蔵の「自利」と「利他」が強調されていることを指
摘した。
第 2 章では、『大阿弥陀経』の法蔵菩薩段における「自利」と「利他」の特性を検討
した。独特な 129 字の構造から、漢訳者が法蔵の発願と六波羅蜜の修行体系を通じて法
蔵の「自利」と「利他」の菩薩行を意図的に強調したことを指摘した。
第 3 章では、〈無量寿経〉の誓願文における「自利」と「利他」について検討した。
『大阿弥陀経』の第 5、6、7 願（生因願）、および『無量寿経』の三輩往生段にみられる
菩薩行の修行体系を分析しながら、「自利」と「利他」の重要性が強調されていること
を指摘した。
第 4 章では、法蔵菩薩のみならず、往生者に対しても現世娑婆世界において「自利」
と「利他」の修行の重要性と必要性が強調されていることが明らかとなった。
第 5 章では、『大阿弥陀経』と『観無量寿経』において、「自利」と「利他」に関する
九つの関連があることを示しながら、観音と授記に関する用例を通じて両経における自
利と利他の特性を検討した。
本稿の結論として次のことを挙げることができる。「自利」と「利他」、作菩薩道（六
波羅蜜）、修行体系の 3 つは異なる側面から同じことを説く概念である。六波羅蜜とい
う修行体系を実践することによって「自利」と「利他」の目的を実現する。「後期無量
寿経」と比べて、『大阿弥陀経』には、往生人に対して六波羅蜜の修行を勧めることが
ある。『大阿弥陀経』を 48 願系統の「後期無量寿経」と比べた時、最も重要な違いは

『大阿弥陀経』には六波羅蜜を実践する修行体系があることである。その自利と利他を
目的とする修行体系は『大阿弥陀経』の原典から漢訳されたものではなく、漢訳者に
よって意図的に付加されたものであると考えられる。 |
