Abstract南觀音洞是杭州地區重要的一處石窟遺跡,洞內造像始雕於南宋開禧年間,最初的設計包括正壁主尊與脅侍、側壁下層的十八羅漢與二天王像。到了南宋嘉定年間,信徒們即開始補雕羅漢等像於壁面所剩空間。到了明代仍在補雕。位於上層的文殊與普賢像相互對稱,或為最初設計,或為後期補做。嘉定之後補雕的諸像,在造像的配置方面多沒有統一規劃,且題材雷同,有多尊白衣觀音與羅漢像,應屬個人的不同功德。現存洞內諸像均重塑於1986 年,而從“文革”後的幸存殘像以及2 0 世紀5 0 年代所拍照片來看,當年的石雕像均已被改作了泥塑像,但應大體延續著原石雕像的題材與基本姿態。而現存洞內的重塑則是大體延續著原有泥塑像的樣式。因此,現存的重做塑像也應該大體反映著原像的題材與基本姿態,但風格已非原始面貌。洞
內諸像體量小,且均為頭身比例不協調的頭大身小,應是沿襲了五代、北宋時期杭州地區的民間造像風格,如勝果寺吳越國時期的十八羅漢雕像。
