Abstract音樂陶冶性情,傳播力強,超越語言限制,異國族群可透過音符、節奏,傳遞精神,溝通交流,宗教間亦有樂曲弘傳或闡述神聖的光明面。宗教與音樂跨領域結合的大國,基督宗教,成功的以音樂傳揚福音,並借重音樂作為關懷工作,促進信徒之間的合一。聽基督宗教音樂未必能找到大起大落、令人掏心掏肺的點,卻像一杯清澈的冰開水,緩流過心中, 讓人一聽想再聽。然而,台灣地區的主要宗教「佛教」、「道教」,兩宗教音樂卻不見在台灣各地流傳?反倒是基督宗教歌曲廣為人知,如<平安夜>(Silent Night)、<奇異恩典> (Amazing Grace),因此,本研究旨在討論「佛教和道教的音樂未在台灣廣泛流傳的原因為何?」針對台灣地區宗教現代音樂的現況發展,一探究竟。

本論文的研究方法為深度訪談。訪談對象總計18人,分別為宗教人士、非宗教人士以及教內音樂人。為盡可能獲得客觀答案,訪談對象身份各異,且當中多位訪談對象具多重身份。本論文採用大眾文化理論推敲龐雜原因,再簡明將研究結果綜整為四點:
1. 音樂的風格。
2. 音樂製作的專業度。
3. 推廣或宣傳預算的不足。
4. 民風不盛行。

最後的結論為研究結果提出方向性的建議,期許未來廣延更多研究題材,針對此現象做出再全面,再系統性的深入觀察與探討。

Music helps formulating temperament. It is strong in transmitting which overcomes language barriers. People from different culture are able to communicate and exchange spirit through musical notes and rhythm. There are also songs that elaborate the positive side of the holiness between religions.

Christianity combined its religion with music and succesfully spread its gospel. Christianity also used music to assist the unity between followers. Christian music appears to be a glass of ice water that runs through inside people’s heart, which makes you intend to listen to the music repeatedly.

However, the music of the two main religion in Taiwan, Buddhism and Daoism, does not seem to be popular in Taiwan. Songs like and are more well known instead. Thus, this research is to explore the reason of Buddhism and Daosim music being unpopular in Taiwan.

The methodology of this research is interview, including 18 participants. Participants were grouped into religious person, non-religious person, and religious musician. In order to gain an objective result, participants holds different identities or multiple identities. The results were analyzed by mass culture theory, and were integrated into 4 points.
1. The style of the music.
2. The professionalism of the music production.
3. Insufficient budget in promotion.
4. Unpopular among Taiwanese culture.

Finally, advices were given in the conclusion for future researchers expecting a more in-depth study on this topic.
