| Abstract | 본고에서는, 불성유무논쟁에 대한 원효의 대답을 듣기 위해서, 그가 저술한 『십문화쟁론의 ｢불성유무화쟁문｣을 철저히 이해하고자 하였다.
첫째, ｢불성유무화쟁문｣은 『십문화쟁론』에서 2번째로 등장하였을 가능성이 크다고 생각된다. 또한, ｢불성유무화쟁문｣의 구조는 무성론과 유성론이 주장하는 부분, 양론이 서로 논란을 벌이는 부분, 원효가 양론을 회통하는 부분으로 이루어져 있었을 것으로 추정된다.
둘째, 주장부분에서는 먼저 무성론이 『현양성교론』 등을 거론하며, “일천제의 중생은 불성이 없어서 부처님이 될 수 없다”고 주장하였을 것이다. 그리고 다음 유성론에서는 『열반경』 등을 제시하며, “일천제를 포함한 모든 중생에게 불성이 있다”고 주장하였을 것으로 추측된다.
셋째, 논란부분에서는 먼저, 유성론자가 무성론자에게 2가지의 논점을 가지고 논박을 가하자, 이에 대해서 무성론자가 응수를 하였다. 다음, 무성론자가 유성론자에게 다른 2가지의 논점을 가지고 반박을 가하자, 이에 대해서 유성론자가 변론하는 모습을 볼 수 있다.
넷째, 회통부분에서는 원효가 “양론은 모두 옳다”고 선언하여 양론을 화해하고 있는 것을 충분히 짐작할 수 있다. 그리고 의지문과 연기문이라는 二門을 제시하여, 의지문에서 무성론이 도출되고 연기문에서 유성론이 도출될 수 있기 때문에, 양론이 모두 옳다고 판단한 것도 추정이 가능하다.
To hear Wonhyo's answer to the dispute on Buddha-nature, The Chapter on the Reconciliation of Dispute on the Buddha-nature was studied. As the second chapter, it may have 3 parts: 'the assertive part', 'the debating part',
and 'the decisive part'.
In the assertive part, the theory of non-existence of Buddha-nature may asserted that icchantika hasn't Buddha-nature so he can't be a Buddha. And the theory of existence of Buddha-nature may asserted that all sentient beings have Buddha-nature so they can be Buddhas.
In the debating part, the theory of existence of Buddha-nature made attacks on the 2 issues and the theory of non-existence of Buddha-nature defended them. And then, the theory of non-existence of Buddha-nature made attacks on the other 2 issues and the theory of existence of Buddha-nature defended them.
And in the decisive part, we can know that he harmonized the two theories saying that the two theories are all right. And we also can see that he used the method of two aspects which has the aspect of Eui-ji(依持門) and the aspect of Yeon-gi(緣起門) in this case. |
