Abstract 隋唐時代,有華嚴宗初祖杜順和尚(557-640)的《華嚴法界觀門》(簡稱《法界觀》),北宋‧夷門山廣智本嵩禪師於《華嚴七字經題法界觀三十門頌》說到:「深明杜順旨,何必趙州茶」。而後代對此偈頌有著不同之看法,有認為「會得法界觀,參禪了一半」,但元代‧琮湛禪師於《註華嚴經題法界觀門頌》中,則認為「深明杜順旨,好喫趙州茶」。由此看來,反映了禪師們對華嚴法界觀有著不同看法。然不論如何,皆在在顯示了華嚴法界觀與禪宗彼此之間有著密切關係。本論文試圖藉由《法界觀》來切入,探討華嚴與禪宗之關係。首先,對《法界觀》做一簡單說明,此乃針對法界觀之三觀,來說明三觀各具十門,因此而成三觀三十門之特色,以呈現華嚴溥融無礙重重無盡法界。其次,則藉用廣智禪師《法界觀門頌》及琮湛禪師《註法界觀門頌》來說明法界觀與禪之關係。最後,主要列舉臨濟宗歷代禪師(如南嶽懷讓、馬祖道一、黃檗希運、臨濟義玄,乃至大慧宗杲等)來做說明,以顯示其如何活用禪觀。
