| Abstract | 『禪門五宗綱要私記』는 환성지안의 『禪門五宗綱要』에 대한 주석서로서 백파긍선이 저술한 것이다. 이것은 일찍이 『인천안목』과 『선문강요집』을 계승한 것으로 우리나라에서는 드물게보는 선종오가에 대한 강요서이다. 여기에서 백파는 大機와 大用이라는 사상의 기준을 전제하고 그것을 통하여 오가의 모든 교의를 비판하고 적용하였다. 나아가서 백파는 선종오가의 교의를 배열하는 것에 대하서도 조사선과 여래선과 의리선의 삼종선을 바탕으로 하여 각각에 그 우열을 보여주었다. 그러나 어디까지나 임제종을 최고의 가르침으로 내세우고 다른 가르침을 그 하위개념으로 내세웠다.
백파는 또한 임제종지의 근간을 이루고 있는 임제삼구를 내세워 다른 종파의 교의까지도 그 개념을 중심으로 해석을 가하였다. 나아가서 오가에 대한 해석을 마치고, 이후에 제시한 [잡록] 부분에 대해서도 임제의 삼구를 적용하여 임제종지 위주의 해석으로 치우친 것은 자파에 대한 지나친 우월의식으로 보인다. 이런 까닭에 기타의 禪理에서 보자면 비판의 여지를 많이 남겨놓았다. 특히 조동종과 운문종 등의 갖가지 교의는 물론이고, 사요간, 삼요, 삼현 등 임제종지에 속하는 여타의 교의까지도 대기와 대용 및 임제삼구의 입장으로 해석해버렸다.
SEONMUNOJONGGANGYO-SAGI(禪門五宗綱要私記) was written by Backpa-Geungseon(1767~1852) in late Joseon-dynasty. This SEONMUNO JONGGANGYO-SAGI is interpreter of the SEONMUNOJONGGANGYO(禪門五宗綱要 : the five schools essentials of seon) by Hwangsung-Jian (1664~ 1729) in late Joseon-dynasty.
The SEONMUNOJONGGANGYO-SAGI was based on SEONMUNO JONGGANGYO. SEONMUNOJONGGANGYO was based on SEONMUN GANGYOJIP(禪門綱要集 : collection of seon's essentials) in middle Korea- dynasty. SEONMUNGANGYOJIP was based on RENTIANYANMU (人天眼目 : the prospects on humans and heavens) in Song-dynasty of China.
Backpa-Geungseon divided two types of the five schools essentials of seon-sects, so called, the great capacity ＆ great function(大機大用). And Backpa-Geungseon divided two type of seon thoughts, so called, the Patriarch-seon(祖師禪), the Tathagata-seon(如來禪) and the Theoretical-seon(義理禪).
Backpa-Geungseon asserted his view that the five schools essentials are affiliated to the thoughts of Linji-sect(臨濟宗). In this interpreter of the five schools essentials of seon-sects, Backpa-Geungseon showed that the only LINJI-sect is an orthodox school among the five schools essentials of seon-sects. But I think that it’s dangerous to have an arbitrary viewpoint of that. |
