| Abstract | 本文將慧能的《壇經》和神秀的《觀心論》作了比較，發現兩者同屬如來藏系，以為修行就是彰顯本來清淨的佛性；都有立足于心性去談佛法（萬法）；都提倡頓悟，他們的教法同屬頓教。神秀的觀點與慧能的觀點並沒有本質的區別，他們的禪法原理都共同來源於他們的老師——弘忍。這個結論與一般流傳的“南頓北漸”說不同。所謂的“南頓北漸”說，應該進一步詮釋。
This paper compares Huineng’s Platform Sutra with Shenxiu’s Treatise on the Contemplation of the Mind (觀心論Guanxin Lun), and finds that both belong to the Tathāgatagarbha system, and both think of practice as a manifestation of the original pure Buddha nature; they both talk about Buddha Dharma (ten thousand dharmas) based on the nature of mind; both advocate sudden enlightenment, and their teaching methods belong to the teachings of sudden enlightenment. There is no essential difference between Shenxiu’s and Huineng’s views. Their Chan principles both come from their teacher Hongren. This conclusion is different from the popular saying of “sudden in the south, gradual in the north”, which should be further interpreted. |
