| Abstract | 본고는 돈황출토지론문헌 S.4303을 중심으로 지론학파의 법계연기 사상을 고찰하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다.
1) S.4303은 불교의 교리를 삼종교판의 구도로 논하면서 그중 최상위에 위치한 통종대승(通宗大乘)의 입장을 ‘법계연기(法界緣起)’로 설명하고 있다. 이 맥락에서 법계연기란 모든 개별 교리들간의 완전한 관계성, 무차별, 평등을 의미한다.
S.4303은 이러한 교리의 완전한 관계성을 지론학파의 독자적인 관점이라고 선언하였다.
2) S.4303에 나타난 법계연기의 해석을 보면 후대 화엄교학에서 법계연기를설명하는 주요 논의들이 이미 지론학파에서부터 형성되어 왔음을 알 수 있다.
3) 기존 연구에서는 법계연기를 설명할 때 ‘법계’에 중심을 두고 논의하였으나, S.4303의 내용은 ‘연기’를 중심으로 이루어지고 있었다. 이러한 관점에서 지론문헌을 살펴보았을 때, 지론학파의 또 다른 연기설인 연집(緣集)과 연기가 다른맥락에서 사용되고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그 기원은 지론학파가 4권능가의 삼성설(三性說)을 해석하면서 의타기성[緣起]을 원성실성[眞如]의 발현으로 보았던 여래장연기 사상에 있는 것으로 보인다.
4) 다만 법계연기가 여래장연기에 기반하고 있다고 하더라도, 지론문헌 내에서 그 용어의 출현을 추적해보면 법계연기가 여래장연기에 선행한다. 나아가 지론학파 내 사상의 진전에 따라 법계연기는 여래장연기에 속하는 것으로 이해되었다.
This paper aims to examine the Fajieyuanqi (法界緣起, “Dependent-arsing of the Dhama Realm”) theory, base on the Dilun texts S.4303 found in Dunhuang.
The result can be summarized as follows.
1) S.4303 analyzes the Buddhist doctrines in the three doctrinal classification and discusses that all the doctrines are dependent on each other, therefore one is in all and all in one from the ultimate point of view. In this context, the Fajieyuanqi means the complete relationship, non-discrimination, and equality between all individual doctrines. Moreover, S.4303 declares the full relevance of these doctrines to be the standpoint of the Dilun school.
2) The Fajieyuanqi is generally considered to be the idea of the Huayen school.
However, if we glimpse the S.4303, the analogies of the Indra’s net and the mirrors reflecting each other, or the six characteristics(六相) that are used to explain the Fajieyuanqi have already been formed from the Dilun School.
3) The S.4303 show the core point of the Fajieyuanqi should be ‘dependent-arising’ itself. When examining the Dilun manucripts from this point of view, it can be seen that the 緣起 would be derived from paratantra - svabhāva of the tri - svabhāva. The monks of the Dilun School interpreted the tri - svabhāva in the viewpoint of the Tathāgatagarbha theory, thus the Fajieyuanqi was appeared in the idea that the Tathāgatagarbha generates every phenomenal world(一切法) mainly indicating the Buddha dharma(佛法).
4) Therefore the Fajieyuanqi had been understood as a part of the Tathāgatagarbha theory in the Dilun school.
