Shi Chengjin is a renowned humorous fable writer on the Ching dynasty, one of whose representative works is Xiao De Hao. Shi cheng jin thinks those who behave badly may not draw a bitter lesson from severe criticism. On the contrary, by reading jokes, the readers may have a fear of what fateful conseguences their behariors will bring about and thus come to mend their ways anxiously. In Xiao De Hao, the author ridicules ugly side of human nature, and criticizes their unsuitable words and deeds, so as to inspire and awaken the public. In short, this article aims to analyze Xiao De Hao, and display its rich and profound implication. In terms of the performance techniques, through words and deeds of funny characters, exaggerated absurd plots, and tonal and situational collocation, the author not only highlights the moral, but also adds funny effects to the story, with an eye to rousing the world.
