| Abstract | 본고는 명혜의 주저『화엄수선관조입해탈문의(華嚴修禪觀照入解脫門義)』를 연구 대상으로 삼아 화엄학에서의 신(信)과 주(住)의 관계를 해명하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 동아시아 화엄학에서 성불론을 논할 때 신과 주는 핵심적인 용어 중 하나이다. 본 문헌은 신라 의상의『법계도』를 본 떠 도인을 만들어 법계를 설명한 것으로 유명한데, 도인은 신과 주의 계위까지만 그려졌고, 그러면서도 도인의 내용이 5위(십신, 십주, 십행, 십회향, 십지)를 총괄하고 있다고 설명한다. 이러한 이유로 화엄학에서 신과 주의 관계 및 함의를 해명하기 위해 매우 유용한 문헌이다. 본고에서는 『해탈문의 』의 신과 주의 관계를 해명하기 위해서 크게 도인과 과문을 통해 접근하였다. 그리고 과문은 다시 열위(列位=계위를 펼침)의 관점, 불광(佛光)이 나타나는 관점, 정산(定散)이위의 관점, 정수관조문(正修觀照門)에서의 관점으로 나누어 고찰하였다. 이렇게 하여 『해탈문의 』의 구조 및 내용으로부터 신과 주의 관계에 대해서 분석한 결과 ①신종과 주의 동시성 ② 신종과 주의 상하관계 ③ 신과 주의 융합성 ④ 신초와 주의 동일성을 포함하여 7가지 다양성을 통해 신과 주의 관계가 성립하였다. 이러한 관계성을 놓고 볼 때 명혜의 화엄사상에서 신(信), 즉 믿음이 갖는 중요성이 증명될 수 있으며, 명혜의 성불론을 기존의 연구처럼 신만성불로 한정하는 것은 신과 주의 다양한 관계성을 볼 때 재고의 여지가 있다.
It is a well-known fact that the theory on ‘attaining Buddhahood after the perfection of one’s own faith’ 信滿成佛論, which was emphasized by Fazang法藏, takes center stage when discussing the theory on accomplishing Buddhahood of the Huayan華嚴 studies in East Asia. The idea, the perfection of one’s own faith 信滿 and the first abode 初住 are interpreted as two sides of the same coin. Then, it would be good to express is as ‘attaining Buddhahood after the first abode’ 初住成佛 with stage階位 in mind, but why would it be expressed as ‘attaining Buddhahood after the perfection of one’s own faith’ 信滿成佛? Having a critical mind of this problem, this study is basic research of bibliography that focuses on elucidation of the relationship between faith信 and abode住 in the Huayan study of Myo-e明惠 who accepted the Huayan study of Li Tongxuan李通玄 in Japan. The subject of study is the Myo-e’s main publication, Kegon-shuzen-kansho-nyugedatus-mongi華嚴修禪觀照入解脫門理. The reason is that this book accounts for the Dharma-realm by creating seal, and explains the content of the seal covers the first five stages which are ten stages of faith十信, ten abodes十住, ten practices十行, ten dedications of merit十迴向 and ten grounds十地, although the seal is made only up to the stage of faith and abode. As a result of analyzing the relationship between faith and abode from the structure and content of the Gedatsu-mongi解脫門義, four relationships were found. The first is the hierarchical relationship between faith and abode. The Second is the simultaneity of the end of faith信終 and abode. The third is the amalgamation of faith and abode. The fourth is the identity of faith and abode. Based on these relationships, there is room for reconsideration to limit Myo-e's theory on accomplishing Buddhahood to attaining Buddhahood after the perfection of one’s own faith in previous studies.
