Abstract如何使用初期佛教文獻研究初期佛教教法,學界對此觀點不一。為
此,本文歸納了三種典型方法:單一文獻法、共同文獻法、分層文獻法,
並分析各自利弊。提出了與以探討初期佛教教法為目的的文獻方法相關
的四要素:研究目的、對初期佛教文獻與教法的認識、研究過程。明確
了使用初期佛教文獻的客觀、全面、共同、效力等級、實踐、存疑等六
項原則。根據初期佛教文獻的異同劃分文獻類型並說明各自作用。以研
究目的為中心,以原則為基礎,討論了不同研究階段各種文獻的使用方
法。
本文認為,南北傳文獻的共同經典構成初期佛教文獻的核心,是認
識初期佛教教法的基礎。不同經典的共同內容,為瞭解初期佛教教法提
供了佐證;對文獻中不同內容的甄別與判凖,是深入認識教法的途徑。
探討初期佛教教法應從共同經典出發,確立其基本理論與實踐體系。通
過對南北傳不同經典及不同內容的分析取捨,認識共同經典中未明確的
教法。對現存文獻無法解決的問題應存疑,不可片面地使用文獻。

Scholars have different views on how to use the early Buddhist literature
to study the early Buddhist teaching. Therefore, this paper summarizes three
typical methods: single document method, common document method and
hierarchical document method, and analyzes their advantages and
disadvantages. This paper puts forward four elements related to literature
methods for the purpose of exploring early Buddhist teaching: research
purpose, understanding of early Buddhism and literature, and research
process. It defines the six principles of objectivity, comprehensiveness,
commonality, effectiveness level, practice and doubt in the use of early
Buddhist literature. According to the similarities and differences of early
Buddhist documents, the types of documents are divided and their functions
are explained. Centered on the research purpose and based on the principles,
this paper demonstrates the methods of various literature in different research
stages.
This paper holds that the common classics of the northern and southern
literature constitute the core of the early Buddhist literature and the basis for
understanding the early Buddhist teaching. The common content of different
classics provides supplementary evidence for understanding the early
Buddhist teachings; Screening and judging the different contents in the
literature is the way to deeply understand the teachings. To explore the early
Buddhist teachings, we should start from the common classics and establish
its basic theory and practice system. Through the analysis of different classics
and different contents, we can understand the unclear teachings in the common
classics. We should leave a question open about what cannot be solved by the
extant literature, and we should not use the literature one sided.
