| Abstract | 본 논문은 백용성스님의 해인사 및 고암스님과 인연에 대한 것으로, 이 두 가지 주제를 한편의 논문으로 정리한다는 것은 다소의 무리가 있었다. 그러나 두 분의 관계가 해인사를 중심으로 이루어졌기 때문에 가능하다고 생각한다. 먼저 용성스님과 해인사와의 인연은 다양하지만, 몇 가지로 정리하였다. 첫째는 출가본사이다. 용성스님의 재출가의 장소가 해인사 극락암이다. 특히 최근에 밝혀진 자필 기고문인 「나의 참회록」을 중심으로 출가배경에 대한 인간적인 고뇌를 알 수 있었다. 둘째는 용성스님은 4차의 깨달음을 얻는데 제3차의 오도송을 정리한 곳이 해인사이다. 셋째는 자신의 깨달음을 전하는 법거량이 이루어진 곳도 해인사이다. 넷째는 해인사의 대중으로서 출가본사에 보은하기 위해 대장경판각 보수에 있어서 화주의 역할을 하였다. 용성스님의 법력으로 왕실까지 감동시켜 국가적인 사업으로 마무리하게 하였다. 다섯째는 약 10회에 걸친 대중법회와 상당법문을 한 인연도 대단히 지중하다. 여섯째는 해인사 금강계단에서 구족계와 보살계의 수계산림을 주관하였다. 문란해져 가는 계율을 중흥시키고, 청정 비구교단의 위상을 정립하였다. 다음으로 용성스님과 고암스님과의 인연에 대해 고찰하였다. 첫째는 고암스님은 18세 때부터 용성스님과 인연을 맺어 해인사에서 출가하게 되었다. 고암스님이 해인사의 제산스님 문하로 출가하게 된 배경에는 용성스님의 영향이 많았다. 둘째는 고암스님은 용성스님의 독립운동의 조력자로서 중국 연변 및 하얼빈 등에 심부름을 다니면서 독립운동에 일익을 담당하였다. 셋째는 고암스님은 평생을 용성스님의 지도하에 수행정진하였다. 운문선원, 망월사 만일참선결사, 내원사 결사 등에 참여하여 묵언정진하여 깨달음을 얻었다. 22년 동안 시봉하고 지도를 받아 40세에 古庵이라는 법호를 받고 입실 건당하였으며, 전법수법제자가 되었다. 고암스님은 용성스님 입적 후에 용성스님의 행적비와 부도탑을 수호하기 위해 용탑선원을 건립하였고 재단법인 대각회를 설립하기도 하였다. 더 나아가서 용성스님의 유지를 계승하여 대한불교 조계종의 3차에 걸친 종정을 맡아 청정수행교단을 이룩하는데 헌신하였다. 이러한 고암스님의 업적의 이면에는 용성스님의 가르침이 큰 역할을 하였다고 보여진다.
First of all, there are many stories about affinity between Yongseong Sunim and Haeinsa though, I've got some points for it. First, it is the temple for entering the Buddhist priesthood. The place where Yongseong Sunim reentered the Buddhist priesthood is Gueknakam. I could know his humane agony that had become the background of entering the Buddhist priesthood, especially with 『My Repentance Note』, recently unfolded as his holograph. Second, Yongseong Sunim gained 4th enlightenment, the place where he made verses of 3rd enlightenment was Haeinsa. Third, the place where his teachings was spread was also Haeinsa. Forth, as one of Mahasangha, to return his favor to the temple for entering the Buddhist priesthood, he had a role as a fund-raiser to mend the woodcutting of the complete collection of Buddhist Sutras. Yongseong Sunim's power of Buddha's teaching moved the mind of Kingdom, they let him finish the work as a national business. Fifth, about 10 times of the Dharma meetings and the high-seat Dharma talks also have a big meaning when it comes to affinity. Sixth, he supervised the assembly for administration of precepts of Buddhism, the full precepts and Bodhisattva precepts, at the diamond precepts platform, Haeinsa. He restored Sila and Vinaya which were getting in disorder, erected position of the clean Bhikkhu's religious body. And the next, I had a consideration about the affinity between Yongseong Sunim and Goam Sunim. First, Goam Sunim had been keeping his affinity with Yongseong Sunim from 18 years old, so he had a chance to enter the Buddhist priesthood at Haeinsa. In the background Goam Sunim became a student of Jesan Sunim at Haeinsa, there was an influence by Yongseong Sunim. Second, as an assistant for Yongseong Sunim's independence movement, Goam Sunim had a role to make independence movement achieved going around Yanbian and Harbin, in China, running errands. Third, Goam Sunim spent his whole lifetime to study following Yongseong Sunim's teaching. Participated in Unmun Seon Monastery, Mangwolsa zen meditation association for 10000days, and Naewonsa association etc, doing a zealous practice with great silence, finally he got enlightenment. For 22 years, he served his teacher, Yongseong and studied teaching, and at the age of 40, he could have the dharma name as Goam, precepts from his teacher, became a disciple who spread the dharma and received the dharma. Goam Sunim established Yongtap Seon Center to protect Yongseong Sunim's memorial stone and the stone monument tower after Yongseong Sunim's death, and also set up an incorporated foundation, Daegak society. Moreover, succeeding to Yongseong Sunim's will, he devoted himself to set up the clean practice religious body as a chief of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order, 3 times. In such a back side of Goam Sunim's achievement, it seemed that Yongseong Sunim's teaching played a big role. |
