| Abstract | 『조론』은 중국사상의 흐름에서 중요한 위치를 차지하는 책이다. 중국불교역사의 매 시기마다 『조론』에 관한 주석서와 글들이 등장했다. 진나라(陳,557-589) 혜달(慧達)이 쓴 「조론서(肇論序)」도 그 가운데 하나다. 이글은 『조론』을 체계적으로는 분석한 주석서는 아니다. 『조론』에 포함된 글들을 종합적으로 조망한 짧은 글이다. 「종본의」와 『조론』이라는 말이 등장하는 초기의 글이라는 점에서 주목된다. 당나라 원강(元康)과 송나라 진수정원(晉水淨源, 1011-1088)은 각각 『조론소』와 『조론집해령모초』에서 「조론서」를 상세하게 주해(注解)했다. 송나라 늑담효월(泐潭曉月)도 「조론서」를 해설한 『협과조론서주(夾科肇論序注)』를 지었다. 이해력이 아주 뛰어났던 원강은 장안 안국사에 주석하며 중관(中觀)의 이치를 밝히는 글들을 지었다. 낭야혜각(琅琊慧覺)의 제자인 늑담효월의 생애를 알려주는 기록은 매우 소략하다. 불일계숭(佛日契嵩, 1007-1072)의 글을 모은 『담진문집(鐔津文集)』에 「여석문월선사(與石門月禪師)」 등이 있는 것으로 보아 효월과 계숭이 친밀한 관계임을 알 수 있는 정도다. 송대 화엄학의 중흥조를 평가되는 정원은 『조론』과 『조론중오집해』에 대한 자신의 견해를 체계적으로 정리한 『조론집해령모초』를 1061년 전당(錢塘, 항주) 현성정사(賢聖精舍)에서 찬술했다. 원강의 『조론소』는 「조론서」에 대한 현존하는 최초의 체계적인 주석이다. 『협과조론서주』와 『조론집해령모초』는 송나라의 불교 상황을 알려준다는 점에서 주목된다. 본고는 원강·효월·정원의 생애를 조망한 뒤 그들이 「조론서」를 어떤 입장에서 풀었는지, 세 편 주석의 특징은 무엇인지 등을 집중적으로 분석했다.
Zhao Lun is a book that takes an important position in the flow of Chinese thought. Every time in the history of Chinese Buddhism, annotations and writings about Zhao Lun appeared. Preface of Zhao Lun written by Huida in the Chen Dynasty is one of them. This is not a systematic analysis of Zhao Lun. It is a short article that comprehensively looks at the articles included in Zhao Lun. It is noteworthy that it is the early writings in which the words Introductory Chapter and Zhao Lun appeared. YuanKang of the Tang Dynasty and JingYuan of the Song Dynasty commented Zhao Lun in the Annotation of Zhao Lun and Zhao Lun Ji Jie Ling Mo Chao respectively. LeTanXiaoYue of the Song Dynasty also wrote Jia Ke Zhao Lun Xu Zhu. It is relatively long among the three. YuanKang’s Annotation of Zhao Lun is the first existing systematic commentary on Preface of Zhao Lun. It is noteworthy that XiaoYue’s Annotation of Zhao Lun and JingYuan’s Annotation of Zhao Lun inform the buddhist situation of the Song Dynasty. After reviewing the life of YuanKang, XiaoYue, and JingYuan, this paper intensively examined how they interpreted Zhao Lun and what are the characteristics of the three annotations etc. |
