| Abstract | 居士是梵語,音譯為迦羅越、伽羅越。漢語意思為長者、家主、家長。居士在印度最初是指印度四種姓中的吹舍種姓中的豪富之人,或者是在家有道之士。如慧遠大師《維摩義記》卷一云:“居士有二,一廣積資產,居財之士名為居士:二在家修道,居家道士名為居士。”《法華義疏》卷十二雲:“居士有二種。一居舍之士,故名居士:二居財一億,故名居士”經律中所說的居士,通常即指四姓中的吹舍種姓之富人,如《中阿含》卷一<水喻經>雲:“剃利、梵志、居士、工師。” |
