| Abstract | 조선 초기에 간행된 부적의 경우, 고려시대에 통용된 부적이 주로 사용되었음과 함께, 이후 「진언집목」의 편입으로 다양한 부적이 사용된 예를 상술하였다. 먼저, 15세기 중반까지 사용된 부적은 대부분 1375년 제작된 <원당암- 제다라니>에 실린 18종의 부적 그대로를 차용했음을 말하였다. 한편 15종의부적만을 차용한 경우, 3종은 출산과 관련된 ‘능구산난부’와 ‘일자정륜왕다라니’, ‘자재왕치온독다라니’의 범자(梵字)를 부적처럼 형상화해 사용한 것으로, 15세기 중반까지 사용된 부적의 숫자는 18종에 한정되었음을 말하였다. 그러나 15세기 후반에는 <원당암-제다라니>에 실린 18종의 부적 외에, 도교 문헌인 『태상비법진택영부』에 실린 7종의 부적을 차용해, 불교 부적과 도교 부적이 혼용된 「진언집목」이 제작되었다. 이후 1569년 안심사 간행의『제진언집』에 18종의 부적 중 17종과 7종의 도교 부적이 혼합된 24종의「진언집목」 항목이 자리했으며, 이는 여러 차례 『진언집』의 중간을 통해 조선 후기 불교 부적의 주류가 되었음을 말하였다. 이후 18세기에 이르기까지 「진언집목」은 독자적으로 간행되기도 했으며, 그 과정 속에 선호도에 따라 부적의 숫자에 증감이 행해졌다. 이런 과정 속에 19세기에는 24종의 부적 중 10여 종의 부적이 주로 사용되었는데, 이경우 「진언집목」에 실린 7종의 도교 부적은 『진언집』 등 부적을 총집(總集) 한 경우 외에는 용례가 많지 않음을 알 수 있다. 이를 통해 조선 후기에 이르러 불교 전통의 부적만을 고수하려는 경향이 존재했음을 말하였다.
This paper examines the development and modification of Buddhist fu (符) talismans used in the Joseon period. It reveals that many Buddhist talismans from the Goryeo dynasty were still in use in the early Joseon era until they were incorporated into "Jineon jimmok" which gathered various Buddhist talismans. As for the woodblock prints of Buddhist talismans used until the mid-fifteenth century in Joseon, they adopted the eighteen kinds of talismans in Wondangam je darani published in 1375 in Goryeo. When a woodblock print borrowed only fifteen talismans from Wondangam je darani, three more talismans related to childbirth were added. The added three were the "Talisman Capably Saving Difficulties in Childbirth", and the Yizi ding lunwang tuoluoni and the Zizaiwang zhi wendu tuoluoni in the Indic script, and each was re-shaped to emulate the form of a fu-talisman. In both cases, the number of talismans in a single woodblock print was limited to eighteen. In the late fifteenth century, "Jineon jimmok" was published, which combined the eighteen Buddhist talismans from Wondangam je darani and the seven Daoist talismans from Taishang mifa zhenzhai lingfu. The Je jineon jip, published at Ansimsa in 1569, included a section, entitled "Jineon jimmok", containing 24 talismans consisting of seventeen out of the eighteen Buddhist talismans and the seven Daoist talismans from the previous publications. These 24 talismans became mainstream in the Joseon dynasty through several editions of the book, Jineon jip, published multiple times in Joseon. The "Jineon jimmok" was sometimes independently published until the eighteenth century, in which the number of talismans varied. By the nineteenth century, ten out of the 24 talismans became widespread. The ten talismans usually did not include the seven Daoist talismans from "Jineon jimmok". Except for complete compilations of talismans, such as the Collection of Mantras, the Daoist talismans rarely appeared in actual talismans of late Joseon. This suggests that talismans from the Buddhist tradition were preferred in late Joseon.
