AbstractDanish architect Johannes Pripp-Moller first traveled to China in 1921, commissioned to work on projects for missionary societies by the Circle of Architects, a Christian professional society. He later devoted himself to the study of Buddhist monasteries, both the architectural and social structures. His extensive travels through China from 1929 to 1933 resulted in this monumental work, originally published in 1937.
