Abstract | Diffusion through contact in the course of history could be an explanation of the presence of the Potiphar's wife literary motif in Tibetan literature. As this motif is one of the most widespread, it is also possible to ascribe its presence in different periods and areas to human behaviour, which seems to be similar everywhere. In my short note, I suggest to invoke a latent misogyny in the Tibetan Buddhist society as the actual reason for such a presence. |
