AbstractIt is proposed that the "Jayabuddhamahānātha" images distributed by King Jayavarman VII of Cambodia in 1191 can be identified as the stone "radiant" Avalokiteśvara images of which more than a dozen are known. In an appendix, Janet G. Douglas identifies the stone of one such image in the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery as lithic arkose.
