Keyword오성각별설=The Theory of The Five Different Natures=五性各別說; 유식사상= Thought of Consciousness-Only; 현장= Xuanzang; 무루종자설=The ‘Asasravabija’ Theory=無漏種子說; 팔식설=‘The Eight Vijñānas’ Theory=八識說; 삼성설=Three-Nature Theory=三性說

The purpose of this paper is to comprehensively review Xuanzang’s translations, the records he left in the translation process and the explanatory notes on the scriptures to estimate and characterize Xuanzang’s thought of Consciousness-Only. The results can be summarized as follows: First, he supported the theory of The five different natures (五性各別說) through the ‘asasravabija’ theory (無漏種子說). Second, he seems to have established The theory of consciousness (心識說) by denying ‘the Nine Vijñānas’ theory and suggesting ‘the Eight Vijñānas’ theory added the ‘asasravabija’ theory. Third, he is believed to have supported Moo-sung's interpretation of Three-nature Theory (三性說).
