Abstract福建寧德支提山被認為是，中國佛教天冠菩薩道場。東晉以後，隨著《華嚴經》的翻譯和傳播，尤其是唐代華嚴宗的創立和流傳，《華嚴經》中宣揚的山海之間二十二處菩薩道場也為僧俗所熟知。武周時期，僧人元表攜《華嚴經》來到寧德霍童山，傳播華嚴宗。唐代後期開始，僧俗就此在霍童山打造支提山天冠菩薩道場，經吳越王重建施像，以及北宋朝廷認可、尊奉和布施，至南宋終於完成打造工作，支提山天冠菩薩為遠近僧俗人等所信仰和尊崇。寧德支提山天冠菩薩道場是唐宋時期下自僧俗上至帝王長期打造的結果，是“層累地造成的”中國佛教史的一部分，也是佛教中國化的重要表現。
