抄録 | The article discusses the dtmatusti as a source of the Hindu dharma. dtmatusti, which means what pleases oneself, is often cited as an inner source of morality and an appeal to conscience. The term is also described as the entrance to the door of the internal world of moral choice in Hindu thought in which a highly relativized or personal sense of right and wrong is valued through a tolerant and inclusive Hinduism. It represents the spirit of the Veda changed in the form of human sentiment. The other sources that are most commonly found in the standard Sanskrit texts on religious law are the Vedas, the recorded memory of great sages, and the standards of customary laws of communities. |
