抄録 | Certain familiar oppositions in western ethical theory do not seem to figure in buddhist ethics. with regard to the cases of egoism and altruism or intentionalism and consequentialism,i argue that this is because of the presence of certain distinctive metaphysical presuppositions. the discussion, firstly, shows that such oppositions are by no means essential to an ethical system, and secondly, illustrates the way in which metaphysical and ethical theses so often interpenetrate each other. |
