抄録 | Contemporary Buddhist practice does not always adhere to the Buddhist doctrines on music and its meaning. In the Buddhist doctrines there are three types of music:tianyue (music of heaven),fanbei (chant),and yue (the term for music, often denoting secular music). Discrepancies between Buddhist musical doctrine and its practice can be found in history as well as in contemporary Buddhist settings where the influences of Western musical tradition have entered ceremonial situations. Buddhist hymns, with the aid of mass media, have begun to enter and influence the public domain, and in the Buddhist context non-Buddhist music is more tolerated. |
