抄録 | I argue there is a deconstructive para-tradition in Ch'an surpassing French deconstruction:"differential" Ch'an takes logic-as-deconstructed to be liberating bliss (Nagarjuna's second truth) and affirms logic as conventionally valid (Nagarjuna's first truth). Wu-men's Case 43,treated in the original Chinese, enacts reinscription by way of the Chinese words ts'u and pei, which carry opposite meanings on the first semantic level but equivalent meanings on the second. This maneuver is shown to function by way of logic-as-deconstructed,and not by way of mystical paradox ("centric" Ch'an). Case 38 is treated in terms of postmodern "lack," carnavalesque, and alterity. |
