| 抄録 | The paper examines Wittgenstein's claim that there must be an inexpressible background to what we can express. This is puzzling，since he does not deny that items in this background can be brought into descriptive focus. The claim is compared with the mystical' claims of the "Tractatus"，with Heidegger's idea of the nothingness' of things during anxiety'，and with certain views of Madhyamaka Buddhism. It is argued that the real point is this：as a person stands back from his usual engaged practices, the security belonging to his everyday descriptions of the world evaporates. |
