抄録 | The article explores the religious, social, and symbolic aspects of inscriptions found on Buddhist statues in Japan, with particular attention given to a 7th century bronze statue depicting Shaka (Buddha) in the Hōryūji temple in Nara, Japan. Reviewed are seventh-century Japanese inscriptions and their role as an affirmation of Karmic ties. The author suggests that the inscription in Nara was placed on the statue by a local family. |
