抄録 | This article seeks to draw Buddhism into the Western philosophical discussion beginning with the Buddha himself. Relying in part on the work of Pierre Hadot (1922–2010), we suggest that close attention to the Nikāyas gives reason to read the Buddha as a philosopher in the same sense that we read many of the great thinkers in Western premodern philosophy. |
