抄録 | 竺法護是著名的佛經翻譯家,有"敦煌菩薩"之稱,學術界一般認為他是"世居敦煌"的月氏人,但通過對相關資料和敦煌當時佛教發展情況的分析,本文認為敦煌是漢文化區域,而竺法護在早期并不懂漢語,說明竺法護不是在敦煌土生土長的月氏人,而是西域來華的游僧,因為曾在敦煌停留譯經而稱"敦煌菩薩"。文獻關于他是"天竺菩薩"、而后從西域"來達玉門,因居敦煌"的記載更接近事實。
Conventional beliefs hold that Dharmaraksa,the famous Buddhist sutra translator,respectably called"Dunhuang Bodhisattva",was an Indo-Scythian who lived in Dunhuang all his life time.The present paper,based on relevant documents and the Buddhist development in Dunhuang at that time,suggests that,Dunhuang was dominantly of the Han Chinese culture,while Dharmaraksa was illiterate in Chinese in his early life,which evidences that Dharmaraksa was not born at Dunhuang,but a wandering monk who came into China by way of the Western Regions.The appellation"Dunhuang Bodhisattva"was given to him only because his translation work was mostly accomplished there.The historical documents recording him as"an Indian Bodhisattva"who later"lived at Dunhuang after he arrived at Yumen"from the Western Regions is much more credible. |
